Building Caretaker Certificate Program
You've seen the ads in the Employment section of the paper 'Wanted, handyman/caretaker for strata complex (or apartment or business complex). Must be personable, with basic handyman skills'. Gain an advantage over the other applicants. Learn how to maintain and repair building systems in a multi-residential complex or commercial building.

Includes WHMIS, WCB's Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, CPR First
Aid, resume writing and a field trip.
A textbook from the American Hotel and Lodging Association is included (cost
approx. $100). An optional exam is offered for certification in Facilities
Management from the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
Admission Requirements
Participants must be at least 19 years old and have strong English
skills.
English testing is available after the Information Session at 7:30 pm

Building Service Worker Certificate Program
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be qualified to:
- apply for janitorial positions with local school districts, hospitals or city facilities;
- apply for work with private contractors who provide cleaning services to a variety of public institutions and private companies.
A combination of classroom instruction and practical, hands-on experience is used for training in areas of cleaning, chemicals, equipment, floor care and safety.
Certificates issued upon successful completion (theory, practical and teamwork skills). Minimum of 90% attendance is required.
Participants must be at least 19 years old and have strong English
skills.
English testing is available Thursday, September 12, 7:00 p.m. at Burnaby
Central Secondary.

Road Builders and Heavy Construction Foundation Program
This Foundation program is ideal for those seeking entry to the trades or those with industry experience looking to start an apprenticeship in BC's robust Road Building and Heavy Construction industry. This program is offered at Douglas College-Surrey Training Centre. For more information phone 604-527-5472.
Electrical Code - 2012 Code
The new 2012 Electrical Code course will become mandatory October 2012. There are extensive changes to wire ampacities, grounding, bonding, electric vehicles, renewable energy sources and receptacle requirements for residential installations. The instructor has extensive involvement in the electrical industry, including inspection activities. This course is recognized by the BCSA and is one of the compulsory requirements for wiring for the FSR examination. This course is strongly recommended for all licensed electricians and contractors - take advantage of this course and prepare for the changes.
