Burnaby Community & Continuing Education

Community and Continuing Education offers a High School Completion program for adults (18 years of age and older). Whether you wish to finish your regular high school diploma or to upgrade your marks for post secondary training, most courses are tuition-free. For recent students from a secondary program, this may only require a few courses for you to receive your regular Grade 12 Dogwood certificate. For most adult students, earning the BC Adult Graduation Diploma (the “Adult Dogwood”) is a fast way to graduation.

To be eligible for the Adult Dogwood, you must be 19 years old or 18 years old and out of school for at least one academic year. To graduate in the Adult Graduation Program, adult students must complete a minimum of 20 credits of Ministry approved coursework (not counting pre-requisite courses). Required courses are as follows:

• Language Arts 12 (4 credits)
• Mathematics 11 or 12 (4 credits) or Accounting 11
• Three additional Grade 12 Ministry authorized courses (4 credits each)

OR

• Social Studies 11 (4 credits) and two additional Grade 12 Ministry authorized courses (4 credits each)

Also note: Students whose first language is not English and who have not completed English 10 in Canada must have a language assessment.
