Duties
Your duties as a cleaner include light and heavy cleaning duties. The work duties are assigned on a regular, rotating cleaning schedule that includes vacuuming, dusting, polishing, cleaning washrooms and lounge areas, disinfecting equipment, stripping, wet-mopping, sweeping and waxing floors, collecting and sorting recyclable products, emptying garbage cans, removing garbage and waste, cleaning windows and washing walls, and sweeping parking lots and sidewalks.

Education and experience

  • A Building Service Worker Diploma or Certificate
  • A minimum of 18 months of directly related cleaning experience
  • Current knowledge and an understanding of Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems
    (WHMIS)

Landscape Technician

LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN required for immediate full-time seasonal position with a company specializing in residential landscape construction and renovation projects.

The position involves outdoor, all-weather, physical labour and a keen attention to detail. We are looking for skilled, experienced applicants with a good attitude who are hardworking, dependable, teachable, and possess good people skills for contact with clients.

Scope of Work:
• Landscape construction, hard and soft — planting, drainage work, stone work, paving stones, installation of low voltage lighting systems, and water feature construction.
• Garden maintenance — Weeding, minor pruning, seasonal planting, container gardening, fertilizing, removal of debris and dead materials.

Required:
• The candidate must provide his/her own transportation to Surrey works yard (or direct to job site) and possess a clean driving record. Job sites range across the greater Vancouver area and into the suburbs.
• Horticultural training – Completion of ONE of the following:
     o Kwantlen (KPU) Landscape Horticulture Systems diploma program (or equivalent)
     o Landscape Horticulturist / Red Seal certification (or equivalent)
• Minimum two years’ experience with landscape construction and maintenance

Compensation:
• Competitive wage rate starting at $18 per hour, open to increase following review process. Note: higher starting wage for individual with extensive horticultural training, skills, and experience as noted under “Required.”

Position Overview

Responsibilities
This position is responsible for performing maintenance, landscaping, horticultural and construction work on public land. These positions also assist with the training and supervision of staff, prioritize and plan daily work schedules and respond to public requests and inquiries throughout the City.
