TAI CHI 8 FORM – YANG BEGINNER FORM

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Tai Chi is a low impact exercise combining slow, gentle movements and postures. It is practiced for its physical and mental health benefits, which include improved coordination, balance, strength, flexibility, and stress reduction. Studies have shown tai chi can help improve focus and relieve pain and stiffness in joints. Its rhythmic movements promote a greater sense of calm.

This class will teach the fundamental forms of Yang style 8 form. We will explore a new form step by step each week. The outcome will be a structured, flowing sequence of 8 movements that can be practiced a home. Comfortable clothing and runners are recommended. Once learned, this will serve as a base and individuals may wish to continue their practice of Yang style tai chi form 16, 24, 32, 48, etc. in the near future.


TAI CHI 16 FORM – YANG

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Tai Chi -Yang 16 form is a shorter, foundational sequence, and recommended as it covers essential stances and forms that would be used in 24, 32, 48 and longer forms.

Tai Chi is a low-impact cardiovascular exercise, combining mobility benefits appropriate for a wide range of ages and fitness levels and mental relaxation. It improves posture, coordination. flexibility and balance. The continuous flow aids in lowering stress, improves focus, and helps to calm a nervous system. The slow, deliberate movements are designed to unblock and smooth the flow of Qi throughout the body’s meridians, boosting vitality and supporting the immune system.

This progressive class introduces new movements in every session. By the end of the course, you will possess a complete, flowing 16-movement sequence ready for independent daily practice.

It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and non-marking soled shoes, or bring an extra pair of shoes to change into that you would normally only wear indoors.


YANG TAI CHI FAN – 18 FORM

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Yang Tai Chi Fan 18 Form is widely admired as one of the most beautiful Tai Chi routines. It blends the smooth, flowing movements of traditional Yang style Tai Chi with the elegance of opening and closing the fan, creating a practice that is both graceful and enjoyable.
Perfect for beginners, the 18 Form is shorter and easier to learn than many traditional fan routines. It introduces the essential fan techniques without requiring dozens of movements.

QI GONG – 18 FORMS

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Qi is life force energy. Gong means skill / mastery / work.  Qi gong is the skill of working with life force energy. Qi gong involves the coordination of slow-flowing movement and deep rhythmic breathing. Qi gong uses exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being.

There are many health benefits for Qi Gong. When practiced, it will help to manage aches and pain associated with muscle sprains and strains, repetitive injuries, sports-related injuries, tension headaches and migraines. As well, it will help improve psychological well-being by reducing insomnia, stress, anxiety and depression. Each week we will explore a couple of different exercises and breathing techniques. Comfortable clothing and runners are recommended.

Refund policy

Fee payments originally made by credit card are credited back to the same card; for expired or invalid credit cards, refunds are made by cheque. Fee payments originally made by cash or cheque are made by cheque. Please allow 3 weeks for processing.

Cancelled courses
When a course is cancelled by Burnaby CCE, a full refund will be issued.

Full time certificate / diploma programs
Requests for refunds received in writing (email) at least 1 week prior to the first day of classes starting will be refunded the course fee minus $100. Requests received less than 1 week prior to the first day of class, will get a refund minus $200. No refund is issued for a request received after classes begin.

Part time certificate / diploma programs
Requests for refunds received in writing (email) at least 1 week prior to classes starting will receive a refund minus $25. Requests for refunds received less than a week prior to classes starting will have $50 deducted from the course fee. There will be no refund once classes begin.

Career & Business Training/General Interest Courses
Requests for refunds received in writing (email) at least 2 days prior to the course starting will be refunded the course fee minus $20. Requests for refunds received less than 2 days prior to the course starting will be refunded the course fee minus $30. There will be no refunds once a course starts.
